Achievement
On 28 April 2026, three teams of Elements of Business Skills (EBS) students,
each comprising three members, participated in the preliminary round of
the EBS Online Competition conducted via the Student Learning Space (SLS).
Competing against more than 30 participating schools through inquiry-based
tasks, all nine of our students performed commendably and successfully
advanced to the final round. The final round, held on 19 May 2026, took
the form of an Amazing Race challenge across the Esplanade, Marina Square,
and CityLink Mall. Our students were tasked with applying their understanding
of the travel and tourism, hospitality, and retail industries in authentic
real-world contexts.
Through a series of dynamic challenges, they analysed business scenarios,
solved problems under tight time constraints, and adapted quickly to unfamiliar
situations. The competition provided our students with valuable opportunities
to strengthen key 21st Century Competencies such as critical and adaptive
thinking, communication, and collaboration. Working closely in teams, our
students demonstrated initiative, effective teamwork, and the ability to
make informed decisions in fast-paced environments.
Beyond the competition itself, the experience enabled our students to
deepen their learning beyond the classroom, forge stronger bonds with their
teammates, and boost confidence by overcoming challenges together. It was
a meaningful and enriching experience that encouraged them to step out
of their comfort zones while developing important life skills. We are proud
to announce that one of our teams emerged as the Second Runner-Up in
the Amazing Race competition. In addition, Elysa Lim Qing was awarded the individual accolade of Best in Accommodation for
her outstanding performance.

Best in Accommodation: Elysa Lim Qing (3CN) |
Bryan Yan Wei Kai (3CN): The EBS Challenge, which had a Pokémon x Jewel theme, was very engaging although the preliminary round was quite difficult. We were rewarded with points for getting correct answers and even had the chance to participate in bonus rounds, which made it exciting. I am thankful to my teammates, Qistina and Elysa, for helping and encouraging me throughout the preliminary round as some of the questions were quite challenging. The Amazing Race was very fun and exciting, although also tiring, because we had to run around the city area to search for clues and complete the challenges. However, it was enjoyable because I got to work together with my teammates. This experience has taught me how to persevere when facing challenges and how to adapt quickly to unfamiliar environments. I look forward to participating in more school activities like this in the future.
Elysa Lim Qing (3CN): The EBS competition was a fun and enjoyable experience. The preliminary round was challenging as some of the questions required us to think outside the box. It taught me how to become a more independent learner. The Amazing Race did not disappoint as I had been looking forward to it ever since the competition was announced. Through the Amazing Race, I learnt important skills such as teamwork, collaboration, and time management. Overall, I really enjoyed this competition as it taught me many valuable lessons that helped me grow mentally and personally. I hope to see more activities like this in the future.
Nur Qistina Alysha Binte Abdullah (3CN): The Changi Airport x Pokémon-themed SLS preliminary round was fun and interesting. We had to complete the tasks individually, which taught me to rely on my own understanding while still contributing as part of a team. The Amazing Race taught me many valuable lessons, such as being more confident and collaborating effectively with my teammates while solving problems together. The different challenges also helped me improve my communication skills and ability to think on my feet. Overall, it was an enjoyable and meaningful experience that helped me grow as an individual. I look forward to participating in more activities like this in the future.
