Art Club CCA – Singapore Youth Festival 2026 Arts Presentation
We are thrilled to announce that our Art Club CCA has achieved a remarkable
milestone at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) 2026 Arts Presentation.
This year, SYF commemorates its 60th anniversary under the inspiring theme 'SYF 60: The ArtsXPerience - Inspire, Connect, Empower',
a celebration that recognises students' artistic growth and the creative
processes that foster innovation, build meaningful connections, and empower
young people to make a positive impact through the arts.
The 2026 exhibition theme, 'Artist and XPerience', invited students
to reflect on their personal artistic journeys - the breakthrough
moments, happy accidents, and hard-won discoveries that shape each artist's
evolving creative voice. It is a theme that speaks to the heart of what
art-making truly is, not merely the final piece on display, but the entire
process of exploration, experimentation, and self-discovery that leads
to it.
We are proud to share that in this highly competitive showcase, four of
our Art Club members rose to the occasion and produced works of exceptional
quality and depth. Their artworks have each been awarded the Certificate
of Recognition and selected for the on-site exhibition, which is a testament
to their dedication, creativity, and growth as young artists.
Their works will be displayed at the National Gallery Singapore from 4
to 19 July 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity to witness the talent
and passion that our Art Club members have poured into their creative journeys.
We warmly invite all Peicaians to visit the exhibition and show your support
for your fellow schoolmates. Let us celebrate their achievements together
and be inspired by the stories their art has to tell.

The event aimed to provide a platform for young debaters to sharpen their critical thinking, public speaking, and argumentation skills through friendly yet competitive debate rounds. It also sought to encourage interaction and learning among students from different schools while promoting greater interest in debating within the secondary school community. Debaters engaged in rigorous and thought-provoking debates, showcasing strong teamwork, confidence, and analytical skills.
Our team was awarded 5th place in the tournament, with three speakers placed in the Top 20 Best Speakers in the competition. We are proud to share that our school’s Concert Band has attained a Silver Award at the Asia Pacific Band Festival (APBF) 2026, held on 29 April 2026 at the NUS University Cultural Centre.
|
|---|
Under the baton of Mr Erik Tan, the band delivered a commendable performance comprising two pieces: Stars of Tomorrow by Wong Kah Chun and Fate of the Gods by Steven Reineke. The performance showcased both musicality and technical proficiency on a regional stage.
This achievement is the result of months of unwavering dedication and perseverance. Leading up to the festival, band members committed countless hours of rigorous rehearsals, sectionals and individual practice. The journey was not without its challenges, as students worked through complex musical passages, refined ensemble coordination and pushed themselves to meet the high standards required for regional competition.
|
|---|
Beyond the rehearsal room, the band also demonstrated resilience and teamwork in overcoming logistical and preparatory hurdles to participate in the event. From managing tight schedules to maintaining consistency and morale, every member played a vital role in ensuring the band was performance-ready. Their collective effort reflects not only musical growth but also the development of discipline, responsibility and camaraderie.
|
|
|---|---|
Organised by the Band Directors’ Association (Singapore), the festival brings together school and community wind bands from across the Asia-Pacific region. It provides musicians with opportunities to perform, receive professional adjudication and further develop their musical skills.
This year’s distinguished panel of adjudicators comprised:
● Dr Nipat Kanchanahud (Conductor-in-Residence,
Kasetsart University Wind Symphony, Thailand)
● Mr Hirokazu Amakasu (Conductor of Kanagawa
University Symphonic Band, Japan)
● ME5 Ignatius Wang Ke Bin (Director of
Music, Singapore Armed Forces Central Band)
We congratulate all band members on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to their continued musical excellence in upcoming performances.
The 1st National Secondary School Chinese Debate Competition 2026, jointly organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) and the Tan Kah Kee Foundation, brought together talented secondary school Chinese debaters from across Singapore. To provide students with opportunities to develop their language and critical thinking skills, Peicai Secondary School formed a Chinese Debate Team comprising Secondary Three and Secondary Four Higher Chinese students to participate in this prestigious competition.
|
|---|
|
Peicaians Chinese debate team during the Preliminary Round. |
The objectives of the competition were to strengthen students’ Chinese debating skills, deepen their understanding of current affairs and social issues, and nurture their critical thinking and analytical abilities. The competition also aimed to improve students’ confidence in using Chinese for public speaking and communication, while allowing them to interact with peers from different schools who share a passion for the Chinese language and debate.
Despite having limited experience in competitive debating, the students worked hard within a short period of time to familiarise themselves with debate rules and formats. They also underwent intensive training to improve their argumentation, rebuttal, questioning, and public speaking skills. Throughout the preparation process, the students demonstrated strong commitment, teamwork, and resilience.
In the preliminary round held on 16 April 2026, Peicai Secondary School achieved an impressive victory against Anglican High School with a unanimous judges’ score of 6–0. In addition, Li Kunpeng from 3EE was awarded the title of Best Speaker for his outstanding performance, clear argumentation, and confident delivery.

The team subsequently advanced to the Round of 16 held on 30 April 2026, where they faced the strong and experienced team from Hwa Chong Institution. Although the team was eventually eliminated from the competition, the students displayed courage, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the match. They remained composed under pressure and gave their best effort in representing the school. For a newly formed and relatively young team, achieving a Top 16 placing in a national-level competition was a remarkable accomplishment.
Second Round of competition against Hwa Chong Institution. |
Through this competition, students not only improved their debating, communication,
and critical thinking skills, but also developed greater interest and confidence
in learning and using the Chinese language. More importantly, they learned
valuable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and resilience, making this
a meaningful and memorable experience for all participants.

Volleyball Girls C Division NSG League 3 Runners Up 2025
This year, our C Division Volleyball Girls Team achieved a commendable milestone by qualifying for the League 3 Finals at the National School Games (NSG). They have broken a nearly 30 year wait for a medal ever since we were featured in the North Finals back in 1995.
The National School Games (NSG) is the largest annual inter-school competition in Singapore, organised by schools for schools. It is a highly anticipated event in the sporting calendar, offering more than 400 championship titles to over 60,000 student athletes across primary schools, secondary schools, junior colleges, and centralised institutions. The NSG not only provides opportunities for healthy competition, but also cultivates values such as resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Throughout the NSG competitions, the girls displayed unwavering grit and determination, training hard and giving their very best in every match. In the Finals, they put up an inspiring fight against Queenstown Secondary, playing with heart and perseverance, before finishing as League 3 Runners-up.
This journey in preparing for the NSG reflects the spirit of commitment and teamwork, and the school is proud of the girls’ accomplishment. Thank you to the school leaders, teachers-in-charge, and the coaches for their guidance and steadfast support throughout the season, and to the girls for proudly flying our school flag high.

Girl Guides World Thinking Day Commemoration
Peicai Girl Guides
On February 22nd, schools across the world celebrate World Thinking Day, a special occasion when Girl Guides and Brownies come together to honour international friendship and raise awareness on issues affecting girls and young women.
The Theme for World Thinking Day this year is Our Story. Reflecting on the symbolism and values of our Movement, “Our Story” explores what it has meant to be a Girl Guide over the years. This includes exploring how Girl Guides can understand the past in the world today, while supporting girls around the world to feel confident, care about their world and develop the skills needed to make a difference.
This year, Brownies and Girl Guides gathered at the Singapore Expo to celebrate World Thinking Day (WTD). This special occasion celebrates our global movement, strengthens international friendships, and shares the inspiring stories of our Guiding community. We were also honoured to have Ms. Candela Gonzalez, Chair of the World Board, WAGGGS, as our Guest of Honour at the special occasion.
In our school, the Girl Guides marked World Thinking Day during the morning assembly by watching an inspiring video message from Dr. Seetha Subbiah, the President of Girl Guides Singapore. This observance was a powerful reminder for everyone to reflect on their role in creating a more inclusive and just world for girls and young women.
