Education and Career Guidance (ECG)
Objectives
In Peicai, we aim to:
enable students to explore viable education and career options through the provision of accurate and comprehensive information; (Knowledge)
nurture student's self-awareness, self-directedness and life skills for continual learning and training; (Skills)
inculcate an appreciation for the value of all occupations and how they contribute to the well-functioning of society; (Mindset)
equip students with skills and means to positively engage their parents and other career influencers. (Engaging the community)

ECG Outcomes for Secondary Students
1) Our ECG programmes are planned and conducted for students at various levels in alignment with the ECG Development Model by the Ministry of Education.
The goals of ECG are to support students in:
Discovering purpose - Who am I? Nurture students' self-awareness to support them in discovering how they can meaningfully play a part in their community.
Exploring opportunities - Where do I want to go? Develop students' self-directedness and confidence to explore and leverage education and career opportunities while respecting the value of all occupations.
Staying relevant - How do I get there? Build students' adaptability and resilience to embrace the need for lifelong learning.

The Student Work Attachment Programme (SWAP) is designed to enable Peicaians to:
The work attachment opportunities are open to students at the upper secondary levels. Students are invited to apply for the available work attachment opportunities and are selected to go for the work attachments based on criteria which includes passion for the work area and industry.

The Sec 3 ECG Forum was successfully held on 21 May 2026 as part of the school’s Education and Career Guidance (ECG) programme. The forum aimed to broaden students’ awareness of the diverse education and career pathways available to them while encouraging them to remain resilient and motivated in pursuing their aspirations.
Students attended engaging keynote addresses by lawyers Thaddeus Oh and Jonathan Tan from Withers Worldwide, as well as Verleeen Goh from Alchemy Foodtech. The speakers shared candidly about their educational journeys, career experiences and the challenges they encountered along the way. Through their authentic sharing, students gained valuable insights into the legal and food technology industries, while learning the importance of perseverance, adaptability and continuous learning.
Students also participated in breakout sessions conducted by alumni members Marie Soh, Marklin Ang, Ronald Tan, Jenzus Hsu, Kelvin Ching and Samuel Tey, who shared their post-secondary experiences, career journeys and personal reflections with students. Their relatable experiences encouraged students to stay open-minded and confident as they plan their future pathways.

Interaction with Post-Secondary Institutions (ITE)
At Peicai Secondary, we emphasize helping students make informed decisions about their educational and career pathways. Events like the ‘Start Smart’ programme, where lecturers from institutions like Temasek Polytechnic share insights into various courses, play a vital role in this process. Similarly, engagements with Junior Colleges give our students a broader perspective on their post-secondary options. These interactions allow students to explore different academic and vocational routes, empowering them to make choices that align with their interests and strengths. By exposing our students to a range of post-secondary institutions, we ensure they are better equipped for their future, helping them plan their educational journey with confidence.

Education and Career Guidance (ECG) Fair by Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and Talks by Alumni and External Organisations
The Education and Career Guidance (ECG) Fair offered Peicai Secondary students a valuable opportunity to explore various academic pathways and career options. Throughout the event, students interacted with representatives from a range of post-secondary institutions, gaining insights into different courses and programs. Alumni and professionals shared their experiences and career journeys, encouraging students to consider diverse pathways for their futures. The event aimed to inspire and inform students as they plan their educational and career trajectories.

A Day In Court
The programme is designed to give students a better understanding of the role of the State Courts and the court procedures. Students will also be introduced to topics such as harassment or (cyber) bullying, and what they can do if they or their friends encounter such incidents. Students will gain an understanding of the role of the Courts, and what students should do if they or their friends encounter incidents (e.g., harassment or bullying) while attending school.
Family Justice Court Open House
To commemorate the move to its new premises, the Family Justice Courts, which deals with family-related cases and youth-offender cases, is having an Open House. Your child/ward has indicated interest to attend. Students enjoyed an immersive experience and discovered features and facilities of the new Family Justice Courts building that are built with families and children in mind. witness mock court proceedings in the Youth Court, and mock mediation and counselling sessions.
Visit to Nanyang Junior College (NYJC)
During the visit to NYJC, Peicai students had the opportunity to interact with NYJC students. These sessions aimed to provide valuable insights into the JC pathway and help students consider their options for future studies. The engagement allowed Peicai students to learn more about the programs offered at NYJC, giving them a better understanding of the opportunities available as they prepare for their educational journeys beyond secondary school.

Experience ITE (EIP)
The Experience ITE Programme (EIP) is specially designed for secondary school students to experience ITE’s Hands-On, Minds-On and Hearts-On education immersed in authentic learning environments. Through the EIP, students are given opportunities to try out a range of fun and practical projects, which could help instill interest in skills education and provide important Education and Career Guidance (ECG) in terms of the courses or pathways available in ITE.
Career Connect
Career Connect is a five-week program that sees female students in secondary schools apply design solutions and Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) skills to real-world problems. Career Connect, a global program by J.P. Morgan, was launched for the first time in Singapore, in collaboration with the Design Innovation team of DesignZ at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). The program here aims to inspire young women to pursue careers in STEM and provide them with insights into these field.

WorldSkills Singapore (WSS)
WorldSkills Singapore (WSS) is a national skills competition held biennially to discover the best in talents among the youth in Singapore. Outstanding performers of WSS will represent Singapore to compete in the prestigious international-level WorldSkills Competition.
ECG Corner @ The Sphere
Students can look up post-secondary education resources for their further exploration at this dedicated space in the school’s newly revamped library, The Sphere. Filled with information such as admission booklets, course brochures and prospectus across most Junior Colleges, Polytechnics, Institute of Technical Education (ITEs) and Universities, students are highly encouraged to read up and understand more about their post-secondary options.

ECG Activities, Workshops and Talks conducted by ECG Counsellor
Individual/Group ECG Counselling
The school’s in-house ECG Counsellor provides individual and group ECG counselling sessions to empower students to keep an open mind to new possibilities and opportunities. They facilitate discussions to help student/s be resilient and embrace changes, encouraging them to adopt a life-long learning attitude and to plan for the way forward. Sessions can range from discovering “Who am I” by helping students discover their VIPS, exploring possibilities, understanding the World of Work, and helping students explore and chart their next steps leading to their desired courses of study.
ECG Talks
ECG Talks are conducted to targeted cohort students to help them further explore their values, interests, personality, skills and to plan their education and career pathways with a growth mindset.
Aptitude-based Admissions (ABA) Workshops
Targeted workshops are conducted in Term 2 and Term 3 to support graduating students who are keen to apply Direct School Admissions (DSA) to the Junior Colleges/ Millenia Institute, or Early Admission Exercise (EAE) to the polytechnics or Institute of Technical Education (ITEs). These workshops range from helping students with their personal statement writing, course-specific write-ups, portfolio development to preparing students for their admissions interviews. Students will be equipped to know how they can present their best selves in school admission exercises.
Pathfinder Workshops
The Pathfinder Workshops help students to explore and find hope by seizing new opportunities amidst setbacks. The activities planned during the workshop seeks to encourage students to be resilient, embrace changes and continue to adapt a life-long learning attitude. It enables our students to understand how being adaptable can help to overcome obstacles, and empower them to open their minds to new possibilities and plan for the way forward.
Education and Career Guidance (ECG) Counsellor
The school also has an in-house ECG Counsellor who provides the following to students:
up-to-date information and resources on post-secondary education
individual and/or group counselling and guidance sessions with the aim of helping students make well-informed decisions or manage issues related to education and career choices
work closely with the school to support the planning and delivery of ECG strategies that are customised to the school’s needs, profile or areas of priority
