OSEP Hong Kong SAR 2026: Connecting Cultures and Forging Friendships
From 26 to 30 October 2026, 14 Secondary 3 Peicaians embarked on a memorable and enriching five-day Overseas Student Exchange Programme (OSEP) to Hong Kong. Through school exchanges, cultural immersion and experiential learning, our students gained valuable insights into Hong Kong's history, culture, natural environment and industries, while developing a greater appreciation of the world beyond Singapore.
Building Friendships Through School Exchange
A key highlight of the programme was the exchange with Caritas Wu Cheng-Chung College (CWCC), marking the third consecutive year of partnership between the two schools. Our Peicaians were warmly welcomed by their Hong Kong counterparts and participated in a range of activities that encouraged interaction, collaboration and cultural sharing.
Through sporting activities, student performances and conversations with their Hong Kong buddies, our Peicaians forged new friendships, gained insights into school life in Hong Kong and developed greater confidence in interacting with peers from different cultural backgrounds. The exchange reinforced the importance of mutual understanding, respect and friendship across borders.
Discovering Hong Kong's History and Cultural Heritage
Our Peicaians explored Hong Kong's rich historical and cultural heritage through visits to several significant sites. At Tai Kwun, the former Central Police Station compound, they learnt about Hong Kong's colonial history and the importance of preserving historical landmarks amidst urban development.
The cultural exploration continued with visits to Tai O Fishing Village and the Sha Tin Community Hub, where students experienced different facets of local community life and traditions. A Chinese Opera Arts Workshop also introduced them to the distinctive artistry and traditions of Chinese opera, deepening their appreciation of this important aspect of Chinese cultural heritage.
Appreciating Nature and Building Resilience
Beyond the bustling city, our Peicaians discovered another side of Hong Kong through a challenging hike along the Tung O Ancient Trail towards Tai O Fishing Village.
Surrounded by scenic coastal landscapes and traditional settlements, students experienced Hong Kong's natural beauty while learning about the relationship between its environment and communities. The hike also provided opportunities to demonstrate perseverance, resilience and teamwork as they encouraged and supported one another throughout the journey.
Exploring Enterprise and Career Opportunities
The programme also provided opportunities for our Peicaians to learn about Hong Kong's enterprises and industries.
At the Kung Wo Beancurd Factory, students gained insights into traditional food production and how a long-established local business continues to preserve its heritage while meeting the needs of contemporary consumers.
At Hong Kong Disneyland, students participated in Disney's Youth Education Series – Foundations for Career Success. Through this learning experience, they explored the importance of teamwork, positive work attitudes and service excellence, while gaining a better understanding of the skills and values needed in the workplace.
Broadening Perspectives Beyond the Classroom
Throughout the five-day programme, our Peicaians demonstrated adaptability, independence and consideration for others as they navigated unfamiliar environments and embraced new experiences.
More than just an overseas trip, OSEP Hong Kong 2026 provided meaningful opportunities for our students to develop cross-cultural understanding, build resilience and broaden their perspectives through authentic learning experiences.
Our Peicaians returned to Singapore with cherished memories, new friendships and a deeper appreciation of Hong Kong's people, heritage and way of life.
