From 27 April to 27 August 2026, Peicai’s ‘C’ Division Badminton teams took on the National School Games (NSG), the largest annual inter-school sports competition in Singapore. What began as a season of training, preparation and anticipation grew into a remarkable campaign that saw both our Boys’ and Girls’ teams finish the leagues among the Top 4 schools in Singapore.
The journey began with the pool rounds, where both teams laid the foundation for what was to come. As the competition intensified, the teams responded with determination and confidence, winning every game in the league rounds to earn their places in the semi-finals. It was a remarkable run that reflected not only their skills on court, but also the countless hours of training, fitness work and preparation behind every match.
The semi-finals brought two very different challenges. The Boys’ team continued their winning run and fought their way into the championship final. The Girls’ team, meanwhile, came agonisingly close to the final, narrowly losing 2–3 in a closely contested match. After an unbeaten league campaign, it was a difficult moment for the team. Yet, the girls picked themselves up and returned to the court to fight for a place on the podium, eventually finishing 4th nationally.
Then came the moment that will go down in the history of Peicai Badminton. In the championship final, the Boys’ team delivered an outstanding performance, securing a commanding 5–0 victory to become NSG Champions. This was the first-ever championship for the Boys’ team and the first NSG championship in the history of Peicai Badminton CCA.
While the results are something to celebrate, the journey taught our players lessons that extend far beyond the badminton court. The teams demonstrated perseverance when matches became challenging, respect for their opponents, teammates and coaches, and responsibility in preparing themselves and supporting one another. These are values that closely reflect Peicai’s PR2IDE values and our Badminton team’s values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility.
The journey also provided a meaningful platform for our students to develop the competencies highlighted in MOE’s 21st Century Competencies. Through competition, they learnt to communicate and work effectively as a team, manage emotions and setbacks, make decisions under pressure and persevere towards a common goal. Most importantly, they learnt that success is not achieved by individual effort alone. Every point, every training session and every word of encouragement contributed to the team’s journey.
This achievement was also a celebration of the wider Peicai community. Coaches and teachers guided our players throughout the season, while school leaders, parents and fellow Peicaians cheered them on. Their support reminded our players that they were not competing alone – they were representing something bigger than themselves.
For Peicai, this NSG campaign is more than a collection of medals and results. It is a celebration of what our students can achieve when talent meets discipline, resilience and teamwork. With both teams finishing in the national Top 4 and the Boys’ team bringing home Peicai Badminton’s first-ever NSG championship, our players have given the school yet another reason to be proud.
